Melissa McCarthy Did a Perfect Sean Spicer Impersonation on SNL – You Don’t Want to Miss This

Forget America. President Donald Trump is making “Saturday Night Live” great again. Alec Baldwin has done a beautifully spot-on job impersonating Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live.”

The sketch-comedy, which had fallen into ratings oblivion since the departure of Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers, is once again must-see TV on Saturday night. Alec Baldwin’s parody of Donald Trump quickly became part of the pop culture landscape, and it appears that no one in Trump’s administration is safe from parody.

Frequent host Melissa McCarthy stopped “busting ghosts” long enough to make a surprise appearance on “SNL” as much maligned White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer. McCarthy skewered Spicer’s combative attitude, spoofed his unruly relationship with the press, and mocked his reliance on visual aides and narrative props. Moreover, she exploited Spicer’s credibility gap, twisting rapid-fire words into semantic circles and alternative facts.

Wearing an oversized suit and cropped wig, Melissa McCarthy’s resemblance to Sean Spicer was uncanny. Her imitation of the Press Secretary’s agitated and hot-tempered tone was perfect. From the chronic gum chewing to the testy exchanges with the press, the comedian nailed it. It was one of the best political parodies “SNL” has delivered in years. The Trump administration is indeed making comedy great again.
