VIDEO: For The First Time In 100 Years, This Rare Animal Has Been Spotted On Camera. OH WOW!

Two separate sightings of the near extinct Sierra Nevada red fox were recently confirmed by motion sensitive cameras in Yosemite National Park. The sightings took place in the far northern section of the park. Park authorities are hailing these sightings as miraculous because there are estimates of only fifty of these extremely rare and elusive species known to exist.

This status puts the Sierra Nevada red fox on the list as one of the most endangered mammals in North America. Yosemite National Park Superintendent Don Neubacher states, “National parks like Yosemite provide habitat for all wildlife and it is encouraging to see that the red fox was sighted.” The sighting of the Sierra Nevada red fox after one hundred years in Yosemite National Park, speaks to the critical role the national park system plays.

In addition, the world of wildlife biologists is buzzing about the news of the rare Sierra Nevada red fox sighting. They are especially thrilled with the sighting because of the one hundred year wait, which gives them reason to hope. In addition, wildlife biologists have expectations that researchers can protect the most rare Sierra Nevada red fox from extinction by developing a successful recovery protocol.

Wildlife biologist Sarah Stock states, “We’re excited to work across our boundary to join efforts with other researchers that will ultimately give these foxes the best chances for recovery.” The world watches the efforts of the wildlife biology and national park community as it works to save the Sierra Nevada red fox.
