The Duggar family has certainly had a great bit of publicity these days. In the latest scandal, the matriarch is faced with great scrutiny. Michelle Duggar has fought to overturn a law in Fayetteville, AR that would be in favor of discrimination against the gay and lesbian communities.
Though many people have allowed her to make her choices and have as many kids as she wanted without debate, she now turns the tables and comes out against the community that has supported her. Ordinance 119 prohibited the discrimination of people for many reasons, one of which was religion.
Mrs. Duggar went viral on YouTube and stated that people who are gay or lesbian are known to be pedophiles and they are a threat to the community. The law was overturned with 52% in favor of the law being revoked. Could this be the next area where hate crimes get out of hand?
In the town of Fayetteville, people will now be allowed to deny employment, housing and even medical care to someone who is not of the same beliefs that they are. That means if a person is gay or lesbian, they can be denied a place to live or a job, regardless of how good of a person they are.
The public is outraged by Mrs. Duggar’s claims and support in the matter. Many have kept a roof over her head for years by watching their television show. Right or wrong, many tuned in to see how the Duggar family worked. It will be interesting to see if all the publicity lately will be enough for TLC to pull the plug on this family, like they did “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”
