The wedding day is one of the biggest days in a bride’s life. Having the right dress to walk down the aisle in can make all the difference in that big day. One bride from England decided to take a step away from tradition and dare to be a little different with her dress.
Mother-of-two daughters, 39-year-old Tania Jennings spent over 1,000 hour and seven months before her wedding to create the dress of her dreams for her wedding that took place in June of 2015. Inspired by another dress she saw online, Tania began to crochet pieces for her dress in her fiance Andy’s favorite color- purple.
Each piece that Tania made had a special meaning. One piece was designed to look like a tulip for her older daughter, another like an elephant for her younger daughter. Her husband requested that she place a martini glass somewhere in the design. Other friends began requesting things like turtles and giraffes. Tania said that her dress became a centerpiece at the reception with everyone trying to find their design.
The intricate work on the wedding dress took until literally the last minute to get done. While they were in the car pulling up to St. Pancras Church, Tania’s bridesmaids were helping her sew the final stitches for her dress. It was all worth it though when she saw Andy’s face light up as she walked down the aisle. A bridesmaid overheard someone in the crowd whisper, “she’s done it!” as Tania walked by. Her dress made out of love was a success!
