Republicans Fall Silent As President Obama Gives US Soldiers Their Biggest Pay Raise In 5 Years

President Obama just announced the largest hike in wages in the past 5 years for the federal employees and the military personnel. However, few can accuse Barack Obama of a spending spree. The raise for the federal employees will be 1%, while the troops will get 1.3%. Even though it seems to be low, it’s better than nothing, especially in this low inflation environment.

When it comes to the military, the wages were frozen from 2011 to 2013. Now, the average soldier gets paid $40,000 per year. In the past, President Obama was criticized by the Republican Party for not doing enough for the troops.

Yet, the raise in wages is only fractionally higher in comparison to most other government employees. This small increase is, ironically, due to a Republican opposition in the Congress to a proposed Democratic 3.8% wage hike. Some, however, distinguish raises for the entire government sector from support for the military.

Some leftist media accuse the Republicans of “deranged hatred of President Obama” and claim that the GOP will shoot down any bill proposed by the outgoing President. However, many Americans agree that the message of hope sent by Barack Obama back in 2008 was nothing but an empty promise that will never be fulfilled by this man.
