Pharma CEO Jacks Up Epi-Pen Prices, Then Boosts Her Salary to Almost $19 Million

The Epipen is a life-saving device that helps treat severe allergic reactions. Many people are outraged because of the cost of this device. Heather Bresch is the CEO of Mylan, which is a pharmaceutical company that sells the Epipen. A report showed that her compensation increased from $2.4 million to $18.9 million from 2007 to 2015. That is a 671 percent increase.

Mylan also increased the price of the Epipen during this period from $56.64 to $317.84, which is a 461 percent increase. This is not the only time that Mylan has been caught up in a scandal. In 2008, it was revealed that Heather lied about completing her MBA course work at West Virginia University. Mylan also donated $20 million to the school.

Not only did Heather’s salary increase, but the salaries of other people who worked for the company have also increased. Rajiv Malik is the president of the company. His salary increased by 11.1 percent. Anthony Mauro is the CEO of the company.

His salary increased by 13.6 percent. Mylan brought the rights to sell the Epipen back in 2007. The company started increasing the price of the device in 2008. Congress is now investigating the company’s price increase.
