With the 2016 presidential election looming, there are many people who are on the fence about who to vote for because of the abortion beliefs of the candidates. A Mormon mother from Utah, Alyson Draper, recently gave her account of a late-term abortion that she had. Her story is partially in response to some of the things that Donald Trump has talked about with ending the life of a nine-month-old fetus.
There isn’t an abortion that takes place in the ninth month, and while there are late-term procedures that are done, the process isn’t anything like what Trump has described to those who will listen to him. Draper lives in Utah, which is one of the strictest states when it comes to abortions. Anesthesia is required if the abortion is done at the 20 week mark or later.

Draper explained that she was pregnant with twins and one of them had died. The other had Spina Bifida. The brain was developing on the outside of the skull, and there was an open area on the spine that was to the lumbar region. She knew that there was no medical hope for her baby to survive. She got pregnant from IVF, and she also knew that she would not get pregnant again.
The abortion was done by a C-section, which is a method that isn’t done as often. The baby that was alive died soon after being delivered. Some people have told Draper that she didn’t have an abortion. The technical term for an abortion is to remove the fetus from the uterus in a deliberate manner in order to end the pregnancy.
A spontaneous abortion is considered a miscarriage, which has nothing to do with the woman making a decision to end the life inside of her. Draper feels that the parents of the baby should be the only ones involved with the decision of whether to end the pregnancy or not along with the advice of the physician.
