George Takei Shuts Down Trump Fan Who Says Americans Should “Get Over It”

After Donald Trump was confirmed as the new president by the electoral college vote on December 19, his supporters began telling people to “get over it” and move on with their lives. Exasperated with the immense lack of empathy being expressed on social media, actor George Takei took to Twitter to post a very important message to his large following.

Takei said in his tweet that people are not going to get over it but will fight to hold on to all the gains that were made during Obama’s presidency. He added that those who want to take all the progress away were in for a very tough battle. Takei later said that Trump’s incoming administration is one that could undo decades of hard work due to hate speech and the President-elect’s questionable mental state.

Since Trump’s stunning win in the November 8 election, hate crimes and episodes of intolerance have increased around the country, leaving many afraid that America is shifting into an angry, bigoted society ahead of the January 20 inauguration. Republicans have stated they felt under attack during Obama’s eight years as president, although they seemed to resist many efforts to make the country a better place.
