For the Last Day Of School, Awesome First-Grade Teacher Lets Students Draw On Her Dress

Children are unique in so many different ways. Aside from their physical appearances, each child is equipped with his or her own personality, aspirations and favorite things. Teachers often recognize these differences, which is what makes each child special and memorable to them. A first-grade teacher in Oklahoma obviously felt like her 2015-2016 class was very special, and because of this, she devised a way to remember her students forever.

On the last day of school, Ms. Castlebury arranged an art activity for her first graders. This art activity was definitely different than any other activity this class had completed all year. Assuredly the students were shocked when Ms. Castlebury asked them to draw on her white dress, but were glad to oblige her.

Each child drew one of his or her favorite things on the dress, filling it with colorful memories of her school year. Some children drew animals, while others constructed rainbows, flowers and hearts to express their love for their teacher. Many children wrote sweet notes on the dress such as “I love you” and “you are the best”.

This creative method would be a great idea for any teacher who wants a keepsake of her students. As they grow and move on, the dress has captured their innocence as small children. They will also stay young in the heart of the teacher, who can always look back at the dress in the distant future to remember the distant past as if it were yesterday.
