Famed Biologist Has This Harsh Reality For Tea-Party Religious Freaks And They Are Pissed

E. O. Wilson, the father of sociobiology, believes that religion is causing the world community to die a death by a thousand cuts. Despite the fact that cooperation among many of the world’s nations is at a historic level, Dr. Wilson believes the religious dogma arising from what he terms is “tribalism” is causing unproductive divisions among people.

The use of the term “tribal” is intended as a euphemism for provincial mindsets which he believes are transcended by science or elite thinking. As such, Dr. Wilson articulated the very “ivory tower” mindset that suggests a select few know what is best for the masses. In fact, Dr. Wilson suggests that religion be eliminated from society as a means of promoting its health.

This is nothing short of totalitarian thinking as it would require the subordination of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and democracy. Put another way, there is no way that the majority of Americans being Christians would elect leaders bent on abolishing religion from day to day life. It would require a new government in order to impose such a “beneficial” practice on society.

Still, the Pulitzer Prize winning author did not delve into the specifics of how this Utopian dream would come about. Instead, he focused on the perceived sense of neutrality and objectivity that a great mind of science such as himself exudes. He indicated that it is religious tribes that are noted for their intolerance despite their best efforts to be benevolent. At the same time, he said he is not an atheist. He just believes religion has no place in society. His remarks were published in the journal “New Scientist”.
